Prof. Dr. Janak Koirala, Chairman of CAMS, is a Professor of Medicine and Infectious Diseases at Patan Academy of Health Sciences (Nepal), Southern Illinois University School of Medicine (USA) and University of Illinois at Chicago (USA). Prof. Koirala served as a Division Chief and Program Director of Infectious Diseases at Southern Illinois University in the US before he returned to Nepal in 2020.

 

Prof. Koirala is an American Board-certified consultant physician who specializes in both Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. He completed his internal medicine residency and infectious diseases fellowship at University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) and University of Chicago (UC) respectively. He also holds a degree in Master of Public Health with a focus on Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Prof. Koirala completed his MBBS from Tribhuvan University, Institute of Medicine. Prof. Koirala is an accomplished researcher with many scientific publications in international journals and presentations in major scientific conferences.

 

Prof. Koirala has over 25 years of experience of diagnosing and providing care for patients with HIV, TB, hepatitis, tropical diseases, and various difficult to treat infections as well as expertise in travel medicine, antimicrobial resistance, and infection control and prevention.
